I follow the same wild-caught lighting recommendations
for captive hatched animals. Recorded daily routines in several
collections have shown at the beginning of the light cycle, Boelen’s
Pythons will come out and bask then retreat to a hide area only
to emerge later that evening for further basking and hunting activity.
I provide the same full spectrum heat lamp with an eight hour light
cycle using only ambient lighting there after. In addition radiant
heat panels are used as the secondary heat source. A natural 12/12
light cycle is followed with the exception of a 10/14 during the
reproduction cycle.

Big Apple
Herpetological offers one of the best full spectrum basking lights
to the herpetocultural market. I have witnessed improvements in
both appearance and behavior amongst my Boelen's Pythons while using
these lights. I strongly suggest trying these and feel that full
spectrum lighting is a necessity with this species.
